Raised by a toothless, bearded hag

Michelle April 16, 2021

I love a good cover. When I find one, I like to share it on a Friday afternoon so you can kick your weekend off on a great note.

This week I was reminded of how much I loved Peter Frampton when I was a teenager. He was being interviewed on Radio New Zealand about his memoir. They talked about Framptom Comes Alive, his phenomenal double album released in 1976. One of the tracks on that album was a cover of the Rolling Stones’ Jumpin Jack Flash. That’s the video I wanted to share with you today.

Unfortunately, good video/audio versions of that track were eluding me. But in my hunt for that cover, I found others - many, many others.

So instead of showing you the cover and linking to the original, I have flipped it. An early version of the Stones singing Jumpin’ Jack Flash from the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, and then a selection of familiar faces bringing it home.

Get loud and get ready for a fantastic weekend!

Memory palace update

Michelle March 18, 2021

I can still itemise the list from Walking with Einstein’s memory tutor’s “to do” list.

Tried walking through my memory palace, blowing up each item. Didn’t work; now I still have the item’s with a “blown-up version” attached to each one of them. The items are, and remain:

  1. Jar of pickled garlic (blown up version has glass everywhere)

  2. cottage cheese (splattered up the garden fence)

  3. peat smoked salmon (carnage)

  4. six bottles of white wine (wet glass shards)

  5. three pairs of socks (soggy and crispy)

  6. three hula hoops (fine, just a bit charred)

  7. a snorkel (melted)

  8. dry ice machine (blown to bits)

  9. phone Sophia (unaffected)

  10. a skin coloured cat skin suit (cinders)

  11. find the movie “Someone up there likes me” starring Paul Newman (melted)

  12. venison flavoured sausages (cooked)

  13. a directors chair and megaphone (burned)

  14. a barometer (splintered)

A couple were hard to remember such as the dry ice machine and the movie, so maybe it is fading; finally.

Meantime, can’t remember where I put my wallet.

My buddy Toothless here, woke me up at 2.50am watching tv in the living room. He had the volume at an increasingly inconsiderate level. So i took the remote from him and turned tv off and told him to go. To. Sleep. Not on the remote this time.
