Basket block quilt

Back in the olden-days before the internet, we used to keep in touch via mail. I used to receive a newsletter from a quilt shop in Hamilton called Grandmother’s Garden. They would wrangle us for group projects and I think that was how I ended up with all these basket blocks. I sewed them into a quilt top, using dyed fabrics I created on a course I did at the time.

And that’s as far as I got.

A few weeks ago I took an inventory of all my unfinished quilting projects and decided to get some across the line. Today I finished this quilt:

  • 30 years ago pieced the quilt top with gifted blocks and self-dyed fabric

  • 3 weeks ago hired a long-arm quilter machine operator to quilt an edge-to-edge pattern

  • 3 hours to bind the quilt this morning

It’s finished and on the bed!
